Structured criminal networks exploit surveillance, insider data, and family coercion to customize\u00a0ransom demands.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>A French tax agent, arrested in June 2025, sold crypto investor profiles to organized crime via government software, while breaches at Global-e (a cross-border e-commerce order fulfillment service provider for Ledger) and Waltio created three distinct criminal data pipelines.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The EU\u2019s DAC8 requires identity and portfolio reporting, mirroring the framework that was exploited, while MiCA concentrates the risk further: regulations intended to protect investors financially are exposing them physically.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>France\u2019s crypto violence now targets executives, families, magistrates, and anonymous investors across three models:\u00a0kidnappings, forced home transfers, and corporate targeting. The separation of\u00a0the\u00a0recruiter\u00a0and\u00a0executor roles has\u00a0resulted in\u00a0zero final convictions,\u00a0thereby\u00a0sustaining criminal impunity.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Every coerced transfer, including \u20ac900,000 in Bitcoin sent at knifepoint, is permanently recorded on-chain, giving investigators an indelible evidence trail. This intelligence implicates both the French state and the private sector.<\/p><h2>The \u20ac800 target list: how criminal networks build their intelligence through three pipelines<\/h2><p><b>The<\/b>\u00a0<strong>first pipeline<\/strong>\u00a0was\u00a0identified\u00a0on June 30, 2025,\u00a0when\u00a0a\u00a0tax\u00a0official\u00a0was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imidaily.com\/tax\/french-tax-official-sold-cryptocurrency-investor-data-to-criminal-networks\/#:~:text=%E2%80%A2-,Amman,victims%20to%20surrender%20access%20codes.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">taken into custody<\/a>\u00a0after investigators traced unauthorized searches in Mira,\u00a0the French tax administration\u2019s internal software,\u00a0to a network selling target profiles for\u00a0roughly \u20ac800\u00a0each.\u00a0Investigations revealed the official\u2019s\u00a0workstation\u00a0ran\u00a0searches\u00a0on crypto specialists, investors, and high-profile individuals.<\/p><p>The\u00a0attorney general concluded\u00a0the agent\u00a0had\u00a0taken advantage of the official role\u00a0to serve a seasoned criminal. Authorities are now investigating whether other tax officials were compromised by the same network, making\u00a0this agent\u00a0potentially one node in a broader intelligence operation.<\/p><p><strong>A<\/strong> <strong>second pipeline<\/strong> emerged on January 5, 2026, when Global-e, the cross-border e-commerce order fulfillment service provider for Ledger, a major crypto hardware wallet manufacturer and issuer in France, <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/crypto-wallet-firm-ledger-faces-123240083.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAKq0U4EGIJRMeNiTqgr7pb9HD3kfgo1e_DMt3eS50QwKSmV7CPu70FvbAXil2L8C5luQJ_6upV0_36ltCLUuyuGep3BmhyrAaQZuutfkDhYXb-Mho94ZeAoHDwkS2rEVcp6ZyP94IMhAE14pnaYkcyczCHMXCXOPkSvzo6PExRCc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">disclosed a breach<\/a>\u00a0exposing names, contact\u00a0information, shipping addresses, and order records.
