New Feature: Automated Demixing

by the Crystal Product Team

When it comes to crypto investigations, time is of the essence, and clarity is everything. That’s why we’re excited to unveil our latest feature designed with investigators and law enforcement in mind: Automated Demixing.

This new capability simplifies the process of breaking down mixed transactions, giving you faster insights and sharper control with just one click.

Demixing made effortless

Until now, identifying and tracing mixed crypto transactions could be a painstaking process. But with Automated Demixing, that changes. This new feature allows you to demix transactions automatically—no manual tracing, no guesswork.

Here’s how it works:

  • Open the transfer popup.
  • Click the ‘Demix’ button.
  • That’s it.

Once initiated, the system scans the outputs from the mixer and searches for potential matches. If combinations are found, it presents up to five Variants—clear, visual breakdowns of how the transaction might have been distributed. Each Variant can consist of up to 20 transfers, providing a detailed yet manageable view of the possible demixing pathways.

If the system doesn’t identify any combinations, you’ll receive a simple notification letting you know that no variants were found. You can repeat the demixing process at any time, giving you the flexibility to explore alternative connections as your investigation evolves.

Visual clarity for deeper analysis

All discovered Variants can be added directly to your graph in the Visualization tool, helping you map out the transactional flow and spot connections faster. This gives you more transparency, less noise, and a more intuitive experience as you work through your investigation.

Who can use it?

Automated Demixing is available to all users. To enable access, please contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM). Once activated, the feature is available through the Visualization interface.

Currently, Automated Demixing supports BTC-like transactions only, with support for EVM-compatible transactions coming soon.

Demixing is available for any transaction where the output is an entity identified as a mixing service—or a related entity.

Designed for those who need answers—fast

Whether you’re working on a time-sensitive case or following a complex transactional trail, Automated Demixing helps you move from “what is this?” to “here’s what happened” in seconds.

Try it today—and bring clarity to the chaos. Find out more about Crystal and our services
